Pillowsophy - thoughts that run as I lay my head and stare at the darkness of the ceilings trying to fall asleep.

Doing the same thing but for different reasons. It is obvious for the observant eyes that can see within a group of people there are some who are doing the same thing for different reason. Watch closely, listen and you would see. Look at yourself, question your motives and you’ll discovered that you too are sometimes the same.

This is not for example about driving a car. Where some drove to work and some to a location somewhere else. Or some who’s driving is their job and some as a mean of self-transportation. That is so obvious even to the less observant eyes or the less of a thinker.

This is about something deeper.

But still the example above is quite interesting to ponder. Where sometimes a child strived to do the best in school to excel academically while another child does it just to please his parents. The results are the same, the task is the same, but the reason might be different. This would not be so bad though.

But what about, a couple who got married where one half is doing it to fulfill the IDEA of a marriage and another is about the marriage itself, love, children and building a family institution of their own? This could turn out to be bad in the long run. Of course this is just my personal thoughts. And I could be wrong.

And these too obvious of an examples are so many, even in simple activity of having a drink where one drinks to quench his thirst and the other one drinks because the first one buys him the drink. Doing the same thing, but for different reasons. Eat to live or live to eat. Boring subject.

That’s too easy to see. Let’s get deeper.

We are here today, who we are now, what we do this very day, the friends we have today, the job we are doing today are basically the result of the decisions we made this morning, yesterday, last week, last month or last year and the years before. Everybody knows that. This is not new. Thank God, what we decided, still we are alive today.

But the past is past. We could be greener then, naughtier or maybe less spirited. We could be easily influenced by others then. So what? We are still alive today. But still today we are open to be influence by anything. People, societies, cultures and cults.

Trying to be different is impossible. We will eventually fall into a category. Be it a minor or the major category, the unpopular or maybe the majority. We cannot be the single different person. We might be the leader but we need the followers. Or maybe we are the one who follows. Being different is impossible. Being unique? Yes of course, everyone is unique in their own way.

But where is this going? What’s your point mosh?

My point is that we need to take a good look at ourselves today. What are the decisions we are going to make today, tomorrow? Will it because we want to look good by others or we want it to be good for ourselves and others? Are we taking for granted the things we have? Decisions will determine tomorrows. What will we eat today? Where will we work tomorrow? Who are the friends we have now? Who do we vote for?

Deciding the things we want and the things we need. Both of which is important. The things we need, air, food, necessities and shelter, kept us alive. The things we want, love, support, a passion and freedom makes us alive.

Think about our faith. Do we understand or do we just pretend? Do we just follow or do we obey? Do we do to get social acceptance or do we do because we got enlightened?

Questions. I’ve never get tired of them. I just take a break sometimes. Err, enough of today.
