My long absent in writing in this topic doesn’t mean I have been stop eating. Doesn’t make sense la kan….Trust me, I put up around 15kg since last I wrote about this stuff.

Anyhow, recently I was in Penang Island, and as usual in any trip ..I do , what I do best… Jom Makan !!!

We went to Oriental Seafood located exactly at the Gurney roundabout. It is a Chinese restaurant serving seafood, no worries there is sign of “ditanggung halal”,

Entering the restaurant you will see a lots of aquarium with numbers of live seafood, all kind of lobster, snow crab, flower crab, Alaskan crab and good know what crab. Not to mention weird seafood that I wouldn’t imagine to eat. There are numerous fish variance as well. The best part would be you choose your own catch. I would want to order the snow crab or Alaskan crab, but my wallet simply not thick enough to afford it.

So I settle with

a)      Teo Chew style – steam GAROUPA fish

b)      Kam Heaong style – Flower crab

c)       Fried Prawn with salted egg

d)      Siew Pak Choy (a type of vegetable) cooked with ginger and garlic

First of all, I must say the services are excellent. The waiter and waitress even advice us not to order more than we could consume (three of us tried to order 1kg of prawn , but advised by them to settle with 600grams) The interior designs are nice as well, very oriental. It is located at the beach side and our table are located on elevated platform on top of the water, unfortunately it is early evening and the water haven’t reach the shore yet. However, as that part is actually like a swamp, so you got to see a lot of animals, fish and birds running around . So it is very beautiful scenery.

Lets go to the food…hehehhehe

The fish, well holly mother of freshness… Before I put pieces of the fish in my mouth I tasted the gravy first, it is sour and when you blend it with sweet taste of super fresh garoupa taste, well that is a killer combination . I would want to selfishly finish off the fish myself, but my beloved partner in crime a.k.a my fiancée would chop me to pieces for not letting her taste that beautifully cooked fish.

The kam heong crab must be one of the best kam heong I ever tasted, the distinctive curry leaf aroma fill in the air and the saltiness of the dried prawns compliment well with again the sweet taste of absolutely fresh flower crab I caught from the aquarium myself.

However, unfortunately the prawns are just decent enough. Not that bad, but not as good as the crab and fish. To those who love salted egg prawn, you should tried it at Lala Cheong or at Nasi Ayam Bukit Bintang. But I am being unfair here. In normal circumstances, the prawn here are good, tasty taste of fried salted egg couldn’t get wrong with the freshly caught prawns which undoubtfully sweet but in the same time are very firm. It is just that the fish and crab are super good.

The vegetable also taste great, the spiciness of the garlic and ginger, slightly salty gravy and superbly crunchy and fresh vegetables which tasted so sweet are champion for vegetable dishes. I’m surprised, all the main ingredient here are extremely fresh and sweet. I vouch for this place. Full 5 star.(However, for certain dishes, Lala Cheong at Old Subang Airport would still be the best)

All in all, the damage cost three of us RM 177.80 and a full bloated stomach that lasted through the night. I still feel the sweet taste of prawn till morning in my mouth.Grrr…keep on over eating like this I be like doreamon soon….
