From My Desk: The Joyah Brigade

Note: Back in the 90's, there was this series call Opah. There was this character called Joyah with 'must-watch-facial-expression' when she talks. That was the reason why I coin the 'Joyah' term when my friends and I are about to launch into another gossip session.

Normally, a girl or a women will have a specific group of friends that she will be very close with. They will always meet up for a discussion (read: gossip) session and will confide almost everything to each other. When I say almost everything, I really mean almost everything. Even when their siblings use their Twitter account to upload the picture of rice. And the stories told will include every single detail. To the last gory details (if it comes to that).

The term fitting for the group is of course Joyah Brigade.

The Joyah Brigade will be the first to know when things happen, usually and especially when it involves guys. Things here cover an extremely broad area from bumping into a hot guy, being stood up by a date as well as trying to find out if the boyfriend is cheating. Well, I just give three examples but admit it, it is much more than that. To try to cover the area will be like trying to drain the seven seas.

The Joyah Brigade meetings is actually different from Girls' Day Out (at least for my case). Going out with a bunch of girls to watch movies may not mean I'm having another session. If you really want to detect whether your girl is going out for a Joyah Session is not really hard. Take note the names that she always mention.

The session may not mean physical meeting, it can also happen through online messaging service. Phone messages may not be enough because the conversation may end up in chunks. Hence, at a specific time, the members of the brigade will be prepared with their hot cups of chocolate/ milk/etc and glued to their monitors.

Whenever a woman meets someone for the first time, the Joyah Brigade will know. If she wants to know whether the guy is into her, again she will refer to Joyah Brigade (if the members are the fans of He's Not Into You, the guy is pretty screwed up). If anything happens (the guy stopped picking up calls, late in replying messages, constantly making excuses), there will be another session. Even if the girl dreams of something weird, there might be a possibility that the Joyah Brigade will know about it.

So, you see, Joyah Brigade plays a huge part in a girl's life. In some cases, it may not be limited to their love lives but may even include families (this may likely happen during school). Usually, the brigade members have known each other for a very long time. In my case, this is what happened.

Although what I painted above may not be what a guy wants to know, a Joyah Brigade actually can help a relationship (but this will be case-on-case basis). This group of girls will help the girl stabilises her emotions and persuade her to think logically. These girls may also know the guy's secrets so it may be an extremely good idea to be nice to them.

So, guys, if you want to court a girl, do not forget her friends. These people may become your fans or enemies. And girls, keep your Joyah Brigade. You will need them.
