From My Desk: Telework

I've started to telework since middle of last week. The best thing is I get to begin work and finish work early. You get to watch (or listen) to the TV, walk to the kitchen every five minutes or fall onto the bed during lunch.

But of course, it is not really that fun to watch the benefits. Let's see the cons here:

1. Becoming a social hermit.

The only living thing that will be sitting beside me for about eight hours will be a cat. Beside me since she seems to follow me almost everywhere. Seems to or I'm just imagining things.

My social skills may go down tremendously as my life will be limited within these four walls. Even the journey to the grocery store will result in these kind of conversation:

Week 1

Owner: Hello, how are you?

Me: Fine, thank you. Many customers today?

Owner: Not so. So, what are you getting?

Me:... (And I proceed to list what I want to buy)

Week 5

Owner: Hello, how are you?

Me: Not too bad. You?

Owner: Fine.

(and the owner waits for me choosing what I want to buy)

Week 15

Owner: Hello (nods head)

I smile and walk into the store.

Me: these are the things that I need to buy.

Week 30

Owner: Hello (nods head)

And I will no longer remember how I should react to that. Should I just nod or I will have to say something?

2. Vocabulary worsens

As in normal, everyday vocabulary as I will soon be communicating like the comments on Faceboook and what not.

I'm expecting that I will soon be saying things like 'tamo kawan lettew' in real life.

3. No face-to-face human interaction

Like I said, the cat will only be my main source of interaction. Ok, exaggeration. My family is here but just play along with me.

As of at present, I' communicating with friends via Facebook and Twitter most of the time. Even my phone does not ring. Supposedly, there should be any distration.

And I can't wait for tomorrow to start working. Still on holiday, people?
