If any cities in this back-water planet can claim an active stake on becoming the pioneer on creating the landscape for the future, and set the pace for, perhaps, a space adventure like in the Star Trek series, Its probably Dubai. You sure have heard of the world only seven star hotel called Burj al-Arab. Or perhaps artificial island resembling our much "love" planet called "The World"? Yep all that is in Dubai. And they are on the verge of claiming the seat for the home of the world talles building with Burj Dubai which is under construction.
So one might asked, what will they came out with next? Boys, your question has been answer in the form of the largest, tallest arch bridge ever build in this world. Not just in their "world shape" islands, pun intended, but the world itself. Star Trek fans behold, the futuregasmic arch bridge crew consist of "humanoid drones" will start its construction on March 2008. And the desert city will become the proud home of the 1.7km long and 205m tall bridge by 2012.
Here's some info on the bridge as envisioned by New York architecture firm Fxfowle:
- It's 1.7km long and 205m tall. - It will have 12 lanes for traffic.- It will cost 817 million dollars.- The design has Sheikh Mohammed's official stamp of approval. - The bridge will carry more than 2,000 vehicles per hour in each direction. - A high speed comuter train line will run across the middle.
