A Brief Rendezvous

The sun lies peacefully along the boarders of the horizon. The settling dawn led by an eruption of bursting shades of purple and red in the sky reflects on the lake facing them. They hold each other close, side by side, his arm around her shoulders and her head lies lazily on his. They are not saying a word neither are they putting any gesture. The silence of the dawn is only accompanied by the sounds of their slow and steady breathing, peaceful and contented.

They’ve been that way for a full 10 minutes now and to them, it’s all they need – complete bliss. The blanket wraps around them, keeping them warm and comfortable. He feels like he could live this beautiful moment forever. He’s never felt so complete, so inspired before. His fingers carelessly rub her shoulders and she stirs a bit letting him know he’s not the only one feeling that way. The sun begins to roar, glaring their eyes.

“Baby, you wanna go inside? It’s getting brighter” He asks, concerned. His soft voice breaks her silence slumber and she looks up at him, her eyes glimmering with excitement and affection. She snuggles her head to his neck and mutters, almost under her breath; “I just wanna be with you – no matter where we are”

He smiles. He leans down and kisses her head slowly drawing her off his embrace. He carries her inside their little remote cabin – the place where they escape the realm of the world, the place to getaway during weekends and long holidays.

And they were happy that way. They were happy to just be with each other even for a short while before going back to their real lives – where they can’t be as close.

It wasn’t escapism neither was it an illusion. It’s merely a love that’s forbidden.
